Early Development Screening

Wondering if your child is developing as expected? Every child grows, learns and develops in their own unique way. If you have questions about your child's development, are noticing they experience some things differently, or would simply like guidance on how best to support them, our Early Development Screening can help you better understand your child's strengths, identify areas where they may benefit from additional support, and explore the next steps together.

You know your child best

Parents often notice small things before anyone else. Maybe your child isn't talking as much as other children their age, struggles with feeding, avoids certain textures, or finds everyday routines challenging.

Sometimes these differences are simply part of development. Other times, early support can make a real difference.

Our Early Development Screening gives you the opportunity to meet with an experienced therapist, better understand your child's development and receive practical guidance on what to do next.

Is this screening right for your child?

This screening may be suitable if your child:

  • Is aged 0–5 years
  • Finds movement, coordination, or everyday activities challenging
  • Has sensory preferences or sensitivities that impact daily life
  • Finds play, social interaction, or connecting with others difficult
  • Experiences big emotions or finds self-regulation challenging
  • You're simply looking for reassurance or guidance

FAQs

An Early Development Screening is designed to help you better understand your child's development and identify whether they may benefit from additional support.

During the appointment, one of our experienced Occupational Therapists or Speech Pathologists will observe your child, discuss your concerns, and assess key areas of development. Following the appointment, your therapist will develop a personalised Early Intervention Support Plan, and provide you with practical guidance, recommendations and outline the next steps for your child and family.
The Early Development Screening is suitable for children aged 0 to 5 years who may have developmental concerns or whose families are looking for guidance or reassurance about their development.
No. You don't need a referral to book an Early Development Screening. You can contact us directly to arrange an appointment. Referrals from GPs, paediatricians, childcare centres or other health professionals are also welcome.
If your child has an NDIS plan with funding that can be used for therapy supports, you may be able to use this funding for the screening. If you're unsure, our team can help you understand your funding options before you book.
If ongoing therapy is recommended, we'll discuss the options available and work with you to develop a plan that meets your child's needs. There's no obligation to continue therapy with us. Our goal is to provide clear guidance so you can make informed decisions about the support that's right for your child and family.
You'll receive a personalised Early Intervention Support Plan summarising the screening findings, your child's strengths, recommended strategies, and suggested next steps. If further assessment or ongoing therapy is recommended, your therapist will explain these recommendations and answer any questions you may have.
Whether you're looking for guidance, reassurance or a better understanding of your child's development, our experienced team is here to support you every step of the way.
